How a solicitor reviews a contract with Hush AI
A new NDA lands in your inbox. The client wants comments by tomorrow. The terms are mostly standard, but somewhere in twenty pages there may be a non-compete that overreaches, an indemnity with no cap, or a governing-law clause you need to flag. The reading is yours; the mechanical extraction does not have to be.
This is a walkthrough of how a solicitor uses Hush AI to review a contract, from upload to annotated risk summary, with no client data stored on any server and no risk to legal professional privilege.
The workflow
Open hush-ai.uk/review or the main Hush assistant. Upload the PDF directly, or paste the contract text. The contract review tool is purpose-built for document analysis; the main assistant handles it too if you prefer a conversational approach.
Privilege and data handling: the document is transmitted over TLS to hardware we own in the UK. It is processed in memory, then gone: not stored on our servers, not logged, not used for training. There is no US cloud sub-processor and no US parent company. Sending client material to a tool under these conditions is not the same as disclosing it to a third party that retains it, but you should satisfy yourself on the architecture before relying on this for privileged material. You can ask Hush to do several things with the document, for example:
- "Summarise the key terms of this NDA: duration, scope, carve-outs, governing law."
- "Flag any clauses that are unusual, one-sided, or that I should raise with the client."
- "Extract every obligation on my client and list them with clause references."
- "Compare the limitation of liability in clause 9 with market standard for a B2B SaaS agreement."
Each of these takes seconds, not the twenty minutes of careful reading they replace.
Hush returns a structured analysis: clause references, extracted terms, and flagged risks. You are the solicitor. The AI has done the extraction and pattern-matching; you apply the judgement. Check every flagged risk against the source text. If Hush says clause 12.3 contains an uncapped indemnity, read clause 12.3 and verify.
The output is a first pass that surfaces what to focus on. It is not advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the contract. It is a tool that compresses the time between opening the document and knowing where the problems are.
You can ask follow-up questions in the same session: "Redraft clause 7.2 to cap the indemnity at the contract value" or "What does this non-compete actually prevent my client from doing?" The AI retains context within the session so you do not need to re-upload.
Copy the analysis into your file note, your advice to the client, or your comments on the draft. The session history stays encrypted on your device until you delete it. The audit log records the session metadata (when, which tool), not the content of the documents or your questions.
The privilege question
The Upper Tribunal in Munir v SSHD [2026] UKUT 00081 (IAC) observed that using public AI tools with client data can waive legal professional privilege. The concern is disclosure to a third party that retains the material.
Hush is designed to remove the retention element: the document is processed in memory and not stored. There is no database of client contracts on our servers. Whether this architecture is sufficient for your firm's privilege analysis is a matter for your firm, but the technical facts are verifiable and we will answer questions about them in writing.
